what a good idea!

and what better to round the evening off with playing some games, old games, proper games that relied on playability rather than dazzling graphics and hollywood-exceeding budgets....

http://www.sealiecomputing.com/retrozone/  (game console controllers with usb connectors so you can play old arcade games just like you used to in the good old days, adds the authentic cherry on the cake to MAME emulators)

ahhh... that brings back fond memories

acorn electron, my first computer, first game was chuckie...i wasnt half bad at it, level 24 or something like that was my best (it only had a handful of layouts which used to repeat, the ostriches got faster,  but the bird in the cage used to fly about the screen in later levels to give more of a challenge)

happy days... <sniff>

I remember playing pong on my neighbours atari, it was amazing (then..). I remember my old 48k Spectrum - which came with a 6 games pack (Psion chess, scrabble - which asked if you were using a b&w or colour tv, Make-a-chip, Horace goes skiing, Pole position and another I can't remember) All for 130 new... I blew it up

Oh I realy miss several minutes of loading a game via tape recorder (making sure volume and tone were right) only for it to crash at the last moment

..those were the days

Missile Command on the Atari was my favourite...

Dig Dug, Frogger & Galaxian were top arcade games

Wolfenstein, Doom & Duke Nukem were all time favourites on the pc

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.

Wolf-3D, Doom & Duke Nukem - all great!  Especially the multiplayers (Duke Nukem - get arocket launcher, fire it point blank at the enemy, and blow yourself up, too!  Or fire it at the ground to get to the platform above you.........)

What about Worm (the old pc version of the game snake nokia uses on their phones)?

Anyone remember the pre-microsoft DK (Donkey-Kong)??  There was a platform version for the old ibm compatible machines.

On a different note, what about WPS-80, the original
(or at least fist one I used!) word processor?
