The last time I droe the car was 3 weeks ago...I took to ripping the inside out of her...tidied up all wires/installed MD player/speakers in rear footwell/cleaned seats to within an inch of their lives blah blah

went to start her yesterday and couldnt...a friend managed to get her to start eventualy and the most horrendous idle I have ever seen ensued...the entire car rocked on its 'miss' and produced some godawful backfires on a little rev...she eventually cut out after 5mins of just sitting there...

I can probably imagine that mot have had some sort of problem like this...I have ordered a) distributor cap b) rotor arm  for starters

Am I going down the right road...there is a smell of petrol...I am worried that there may be a petrol pump problem - i.e. too much petrol being sent throough...is this an option with the 635?

this has to be running like a dream for 2 weddings - first next friday and my own on friday week!!!

hope I am not in the back of a Daimler in 2 weeks...

Sounds like the flaps got stuck in yer AFM.. but if you have been chopping around with the wiring you may just have broken it's circuit so the signal can't get to the ECU.
