I would guess they build in batches - be crazy otherwise ?

Anyways my car checks out as a 525i Sport built in April 1991, guess the guy who MOT'd my car is talking horse manure, thanks for that link ;)

Mark.

That vin thing is very good. Do the numbers run concurrently? I mean my number ends in 8056, and following the sequence up to the last 525e shows that to be 8083, all built in dec 87. Does this mean that my car is the 27th last eta to leave the factory, or did they do them in random batches? Or have I just misinterpreted the whole thing?

Try this:-

Please input last 7 digits of VIN (vehicle identification number) to get details of your car.

My car passed its MOT with flying colours today which was nice, however the mechanic seems to think the engine in my car was retrofitted as the serial number ( VIN ) indicated to him it should be the 520i not the 525, im confused now as all my documents indicate its a 525 24v Sport and so do the DVLA.....is this guy talking BS or does he have a point ?

Confused
