Roborovskis! We had a pair once, like russian dwarves but friendly. We found out same way as you we had male/female,lol.

Were quite rare in this country, pet shops were fighting over the babies. Sadly. hammys having short life span they're gone now. Still have loads of rotostack and tubes, used a couple (of tubes) for an air intake pipe on one of my Royales (grill to air filter).

If Wendy reads this she'll be on her way to Edinburgh, she liked them, not as nasty as syrian or russians, but couldn't get anymore.

Is getting peacocks P****d cruelty to animals, or only when they get hangover?

I am not sure how we managed that either Doive

But hey its a bit of a laugh on a dreary Monday morning, and we got Derek back too. Perfect start to the week me finx

I spose its the political correctness gone mad that Daleks have feelings despite them being make-believe. I think I would rather cuddle a hammy than a Dalek though any day

Oh boy, I'm laughing ally - how on earth did we go from abusing daleks to intoxicating peacocks?!

Anyhow, the hamsters are roborovskis, a variation on the russian dwarf theme. The one in my hand is about three months old, just about fully grown so they don't get too big. We originally started with two girls (ahem) who, after producing 22 babies, turned out not to be two girls after all. So I had to feed and look after 22 lightning bolts until we managed to offload them all to various people/pet shops. Great wee things for kids, so affectionate and seriously cute. I don't really go in for these big massive hamsters that look like reclassified guinea pigs.

Also have a pair of gerbils, which are my first love. Have kept gerbils on and off since I was 13, the latest pair are called Isla and Jura, named after the greatest whisky producing islands in the world.

Don't the French have a saying....

Does your hammy wear a baseball cap and hooded top too, Derek?

That is the required attire now to warrant being called a thug

Feed said bird with it and it falls base over apex and can be caught quite easily. Found this out when at my ex-brother-in-laws pub a few yrs ago when his peacocks escaped into a neighbours garden and refused to be caught using normal means

'spose it could double as a marinade as well! Living in France means that you get used to the fact that just about anything can be cooked and usually tastes really nice!!!!!

they might try, but the difference there is that they always get back up again oh and the first time we tried to copy them as kids we got a clip round the ear and were told why we couldn't feed the hamster into the blender!

That said, did you ever see the original doctor torturing any of his foes, did James Tiberius ever take a drill to an unsuspecting Borg?

In these times of information overload. There is an element of desensitisation (sp. ed?) that has raised the bar on content that would have been considered post-watershed programming but now appears when younger and generally more impressionable persons are watching. That said I agree it is up to the parents to decide what is/isn't fit to watch and a instil the correct value in their young charges.

my 2p!

Calm down..calm down...or you might get a visit from a Dalek...

But you are right though Doive, things really are getting stupid. Banning a scene of a make-believe programme where a make-believe monster gets tortured..whatever next....
