the last few years problems have arisen with engines built with 'Nikasil'
cylinder bore linings.

Both BMW and Jaguar have found it necessary to replace many thousands
of their V8 and 6 cylinder units with the more traditional (and reliable)
steel or cast iron lined engine, all at thier own cost.

WHAT I WANT IS A BMW V8, BUT FIRST CAN ANY BODY TELL ME WHEN
THIS Nikasil BUSINESS STOPPED ?

It did affect the V8 but not that of the M5, only that of the M60 (and also the straight 6 in the M52

I'll probably be stand corrected but if the car hasn't shown the problem so far,or has already had the liners swapped, then there shouldn't be any problems as UK petrol is now low sulphur.Apparently it was the high sulphur content that was attributed to causing the problem.
