e30 short shifter

I bought a short shifter from ebay a few weeks ago which apparently fitted among other models , my e30 . You've all seen them , there the ones with the annodised cup around the spherical pivot point . Anyway , on first impression when i offered it up to the car , i couldn't see how it would fit . I was right , it didn't . So i got back on to the ebayer who sold it to me and he assured me that it would fit . After making several adjustments to the new shifter i got her nestled nicely into her new home , put all the bits back together and had a happy smoke . An hour later i decided to test it out and went for a spin . 1st gear , no problem . 2nd gear , sweet . 3rd gear , 4th and 5th - bottom of new shifter rubs off the propshaft like a banshee screaming 'STEEEEEEEVO' . Looks like i'll be returning said shifter to ebayer . And i thought i'd got a bargain .

Steve, i have kits for the E30 on order so i'll be happy to supply you with the correct part as well as some tranmission mounts and anything else you require to sharpen up the transmission. PM me if you want a price.
