OK . Where is the cut off, to be classed as north east. There doesn't seem to be many people here and around Leeds. I'm just outside Leeds near Leeds / bradford airport. Where in North East is everybody???!!!

Hello zeemax. Don't panic. There are others who live in and around Leeds, but we still communicate with the lads further north. We spend more time driving than on the computer though! A few weeks ago someone suggested a meet at Howden, East Yorks. at the end of the month. Might we see you there? If there is enough interest we could have a more regular meet nearer home.(Bramhope?)- not much of a ride out though is it?

That's because a lot of people will be at the (Scotthall Leeds) launch of the new 3 Series. Two of my mates have gone - one to display his car. He spent all day valeting, washing and polishing it!

I don't mean tonight - I mean in general.

A few regular post in here, but not many at all.

The meets seem to be a monthy "meeting" style meet, and not a great deal of "car" type meets unlike our friends in Scotland and Ireland.

I've noticed Central have more get togethers too.

I even asked for details for the North Coast trip - and nothing has come of it.

Croft is being arranged and Nick has sent me details of that.  But there seems to be little general meet activity up here.

That's not a criticism of those that devote their time to the committee and the monthly meets, because it is their time after all and they've been involved in this for an awful lot longer than someone new like me.  I just expected a bit more, that's all.

I think you've missed the point here Chris. As you rightly say, you're new to this and what you don't know is that the local meeting is not just for CC members so therefore not all of the events appear on this forum. For details of our planned events see http://www.bmwclubne.co.uk/

Regarding  the North Coast trip, we responded to a call from Nigel and have heard nothing either.

We're aware that the local club don't sometimes respond quickly enough and have added two more committee members to help. But to give you some idea of the work involved, I reckon that I've put in over 10 hours recently just with the newsletter, then there's the events, my time and phone calls Mill wasted wanting/not wanting/wanting/not wanting older models for the E90 launch. There's also been planning meetings for a big summer event.  If I could get a good salary for this I'd pack in work!

Mick

Yes, I have seen the Events section of the regional site.  Some of the upcoming events to places like Rockingham and the Lakes look very interesting.  As I've already mentioned elsewhere, I'm interested in the Coastal Run too.

I haven't used the NE site much because I wasn't sure how often it was updated.

I make mention of the fact I know people are doing this under their own steam earlier too and I certainly didn't mean to make anyone feel that I was ungrateful for their efforts.

Perhaps an easier way of putting it was that there seem to be only a limited number in the NE who use this site and that we seem to have a much lesser number of people than other regions (I could be completely wrong on this one - so as a caveat please note I am saying this).

Most evening events will be difficult for me because of a variety of reasons, and I'm more interested in car-involving events than I am the likes of Quiz's and the Dog's night etc, but I fully appreciate the need for 'global' appeal and that many members might want a more directly social element to events.  So that's not a criticism, just my own preference (which is small and insignificant when compared to the requirements of any concensus - and I do accept that).

Weekend events would be great - wherever they may be, particularly when involving things like the Lakes drive etc - that sounds fun.

Is the March newsletter out yet by the way?

Chris,

This month's newsletter might be slightly delayed as I'm having trouble with the compression of some of the pics. It's being emailed in seven sections to Terry, to see what he can do with it.

Cheers, Mick.

P.S. I'm trying to get a date sorted with the Scottish Region for their return visit to the North East. The suggestion for the venue is the Briar Dene at Whitley Bay. Date isn't sorted yet, but we're going to have a quick look soon just to make sure that it's up to standard.
