Hi,

I have a 96(N) 318i with 17" alloys and it follows the tramlines as well

It must be down to the wheels and tyre size.

Yello,

Cheers for your comments Andy.........I thought the high profile of the 440's might not help with sidewall flex and the like.  I love the Roller like ride it gives but I'm wondering how a set of 16" or17" wheels might effect this symptom and also the overall ride.

Cheers Malc.............  #:o)

Hi,

I would say from what you have described, it's nothing to worry about. Just 'tramlining' as its known. I had it on my '94 320i coupe as well as my present pride and joy. Do you find its usually common on a motorway/badly made road? You may find that if you change the tyres to another brand you get some improvement/eradication of it. If not happy after that then get a fast fit place to check the bushes/tracking etc. Hope this is of some help for you!

Regards

Andy

Yello,

I have a '93 325i coupe with 15" double cross BMW alloys with Uniroyal 440 225/55 tyres.  I'm new to BMW's and power steering. It seems to me that  road undulations and imperfections have quite a marked feedback on the steering wheel. Its wants to steer when it goes over these grooves and stuff in the road.  I just wondered whether this is a trait of the car or if something else could be causing this feedback to the wheel.  Tracking ?  suspension ?  bushes ?

Cheers Malc..........
