It's a Pink Mohecan, stuck on to Sylv's lid (so we don't get them mixed up when on the bike/TD's).

Only active X forum I know is roadfly, which is very US based, with UK content too hard to search out.  Lots of trolls etc. too always looking for windups.

FWIW, I didn't take offence (never do really), I'd just rather pop out for a blast and let people see for themselves, rather than think that owning a particular car makes you like this, that or the other.  BrynT has also popped out for a couple of blasts with me, so I know there's another happy X3 owner in Yorkshire too!

Took the Z3 to Cadwell BDD last year and loved it - absolutely fabulous and easier now they've re-modelled the Gooseneck.  Wifey also had a few laps and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here's a few pics from Simon Taylor @ www.phooto.co.uk

Edited to say that the pics are from Croft BDD, July 04

Stu

No offence was intended. It was all meant to be in jest and fun alone.

However, yes, it is positively dead in here.  You've gone to the effort of getting the forum off the ground yet it appears all the other X3/5 owners are well and truly grounded (no  pun intended!).

Maybe they're not as enthusiastic about cars overall, maybe they're all ultra-busy, I don't know.

There is another forum that has masses of X3/5 activity on it too, so it does surprise me that the CC forums should be so empty.

Can you ease up on this one lads...there has been a complaint, and from what I've just read, it has some substance.

If someone wants to drive a 4 wheel drive then fine, it isnt a hanging offence yet.

Best Wishes

Nigel

Is that what we'd politely term a bite?

Wow, what a lot of noise.

Happy to pop out for a blast, or whatever with you guys at some point to show you we're not all to$$ers with X's, just so's happens its actually not a bad car, in spite of who may be perceived as the general type of owner.

BTW, I asked for an X forum since I had an X3 and was 'enthusiastic', just to see if all our prejudices were wrong and perhaps there'd be a few like minded drivers who need a car that tows a horse box one day, then spanks an MR2/205GTI 1.9 etc on the twisties the next.

Oh, I've been to Rockingham too and it isn't too bad in the mud either.

BTW, I also have a supercharged Z3 which isn't too slow for a 'hairdressers car', a 320td compact, which isn't bad for a 'taxi', a GSXR750 which laps Cadwell club circuit in 53 seconds which ins't bad for a 'taxi driving hairdresser'...... and an X3, shame on me and put my income tax up to 50% right now please Mr Brown!!

Welcome to our planet?  Live and let live eh?

Maybe they should have called it the X5 ///M instead then.

You thought you were joking....oh no.....it exists....

It is the MX5 by Thorney Motorsport, a very well known performance car tuner who specialise in M cars.  This one has the Milltek plate because it is sporting their race exhaust system (and it sounds superb).

They only realised what the addition of the M made it look like once they'd finished it!

LOL @ Doive on Rant mode ..

I had a moan about this a few weeks ago, It really does my head in how parents in over sized cars, made for american sized roads, insist on parking infront of school gates or as close as they can blummin well get, leaving 1.25 lanes of road for me and the other X5 coming the other way to squeeze thru.

Chuffing reeee-diculous I tell ya!

Motorsport version??! Surely that is an oxymoron, a bit like a performance Reliant Robin? What would be the point of driving around in a 7 foot high vehicle with stiff sports suspension, alloys and low profile tyres? My dislike for these vehicles is absolute. If you live in the middle of nowhere and need to scale several moors on your way to work, then by all means buy an off roader. However, if you live in the middle of a city as most of them seem to do, and the furtherest off road it will ever go is with two wheels on the kerb outside school when picking up the darling children, then please buy a hatchback more suited to the task! I am almost killed every evening on my way home as a lady in yet another Range Rover fails to spot my Chevette over her enormous bonnet. The school beside my flat is awash every evening with Rangies, X5's, Volvo XC90's and so on. There should be a special tax for people who drive these pointless vehicles in the city. Growl. [/rant]

Early Range rover - Yes!

Latest Range Rover - No no no. (plagued with problems)

I like the styling of them tho ... but could never see myself in one. The Blinding xenons need sorting out, god knows how they pass the MOT TUV regulations.

On a more serious note, I actually like the X5 but would never buy one.

If I were in the market for a large 4x4 then the Range Rover would win every time.

However, the X3?  On www.bm3w.co.uk you'll find people who genuinely rave about these on occasion but it is interesting to note they never post on other sections of the site and are more commonly known as "Moles".

i.e. you know they exist, they usually leave irritating tracks, no-one really likes them, they live in the dark and a good dose of poison would usually sort them out....

I'm glad some other people share my opinions on the X range of cars. BMW should never have introduced these, they are just jumping on a commercial bandwagn for the Chelsea tractor brigade. Give me a proper early Range Rover with hose-out interior and I'll take that off road properly. See you pick the kids up from school in that Mrs Fentington-Butterworth.
