To be honest, I thought it was just the headlamps, ("Angel Eye" style
main units) and clear / white indicator lenses all round; plus some small
cosmetic changes to the bumpers.

The 520i went from 2 litres to 2.2 as well. Meant to
be a better proposition than the previous engine.

basically I'm after an e39 523. I do prefer the look of the facelift model (but can't afford it) and just wondered wat I would have to do to get mine to look like it.

cheers

They went back to 525 in facelift too ??

You want Clear front lenses/angel eyes

Clear side markers

Clear rear lights

Silver bulbs

Nice wheels.

car will look lovely with some sport bumpers though!!  expect to pay £200-£300 each from ebay!

I changed my headlamps at the local BMW dealer, for £300 the pair, not
including labour.   (They had the front bumper and radiator off anyway,
so replacing the lamp units would have been quick and easy at that
stage). The side repeaters are under a tenner, but the rear light clusters
with clear lenses for the indicators are around £250, I believe.    I think
only BMW enthusiasts and general petrol heads would spot any other
differences.
