hi all i agree i do think that there is a kudos attatched to the SE. i had been looking for one for a while and had made my mind up that was what i wanted as it was going to be a long term car etc and i guess fell into the as has already been said,i want the "top of the range" fold i looked at three sport evos and i can say that one i wouldnt have kept a dog in the second had had a service at Halfords i kid you not and the third was what i would have called average condition the interesting thing every time was that they were all over 14k nothing special mileage wise and were simply commanding their ASKING price due to what they were i have last week bought myself an evo2 .i wanted a mint mint mint car and after viewing a lot of m3s thought that i was being too picky and maybe i was but i was lucky and found what i was looking for my point being that just because its an SE doesnt make it a good car and i after viewing some came to the conclusion that a really nice car was a better option than having an SE and it being ok condition wise thats not to say that there arent mint SEs out there cuz there is ive seen them just none for sale when i wanted one i paid for what i got and iam happy with that some would say you could have got a sport evo for that but i for one would want the better condition car and yes my wife still isnt talking to me and her last words were its a ****** F reg yes but its a nice F reg in macau blue with 31000 miles from new and hasnt seen rain in 15 years.....why dont they see it like we do?? just my 2p worth

I agree John, a urm a 'few' years ago, and always
being a rally fan, I wanted a Lotus Sunbeam for the very same reason, but I couldn't afford one so I bought a Ti instead. This ended up being a group 4 rally spec 'road' car and would outrun any Lotus sunbeam (apart from top speed as it had a 4.44 diff) all steel bottom end, f'in screamed on open weber 45's... Moral? i'm glad I didn't buy a Lotus version. |

Come on David, you said you would have bought my Sport Evo when I was selling it if you'd have had the folded at the time.......
Here's a question for everyone. What do the following cars have in common? E30 M3 Sport Evo, Merc 190 Cosworth 2.5, 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 RS, Porsche 964+993+GT3 RS, Audi Ur Quattro Sport, Honda NSX Type-R, Caterham 7 JPE, Subaru Impreza 22B. Answer: They were all rare versions of an existing car, made a little faster and more desirable. But in every case, the standard car was rather nice too, and one could argue in every case that the "special" version was not worth the premium over the standard car. But I couldn't care less about that. It comes down to this. In terms of special editions and rare cars, there are 2 types of car enthusiast..... The first group go all gooey and light headed when they think about the Sport Evo, Quattro Sport, Impreza 22B. The second group don't go gooey or light headed at all. The look at cars objectively. They don't care for the minimal improvements of the "specials" because they can't justify the cost involved. But when choosing a car is so subjective and not objective, it should come as no surprise to anyone that there will be people like me willing to pay a premium for a "special". Edited by John W |

You can even have two Evo 2`s too for the price of a Sport(rarer than the "common" Sport).
But of course the Sport is the ultimate but they`re all great cars. Evo 2 interior looks fine, if you keep looking straight ahead out of the windows .Kind of agree, although it has grown on me more over time (and my seats need a bit of restoration) - think it matches Macao blue well. I don't think that I'm better than anyone else because I have a Sport Evo. I just like E30 M3's.
Circumstances are more the reason that I have one. I planned to build a 2.5L and as I wrote my last car off it seemed like a logical step. I guess as it was the last homologation version and the only 2.5L version is why it commands the premium. But a car is only worth what people are willing pay for it. I think the Evo 2 was a great version of the M3 but let down IMO by the interior. At the end of the day there all pretty much the same. I would like to think that where her for the same reason, a love of M cars not some ******* contest. Edited by Nigel |

The reason I posted the questions above were not to get anyone annoyed but just to find out why the E3 is so highly rated.
In my opinion the E30M3 is the best of the best. I get a tad annoyed with the E3 ownes who come out with comments about the "early cars" or "its just a 2.3" ect ect. What prompted me to post this was some of the comments in the thread titled "Broken Sport evo" |
