Been a bit busier with the car this week , put in the fuel lines and brakes lines

Fitted a false floor on the drivers side to fit the floor mounted pedal box to , and fitted the pipework

Had the block back from being re-bored , so gave it a lick of paint

Ready for these beauties

Also got my clocks this week so will have to have some alloy sheets laser cut to fit in the dash

Got my Samco hose kit , I am trying to get a few more sets for the 4 others who was interested in the group buy , as I have a man on the inside , he's going to see what he can do

even got a free key ring and hat !

You could say I'm as happy as Charles and Camilla

hmmm, something tells me you're taking this rally car preperation quite seriously...particularly the Group N steering wheel!

I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of the finished article. I suspect it's going to be quite something.

Hi Ian,

Those rods look wicked. Whats the weight on them and what power are you looking to get out of the engine.

Did the diff flanges arrive ??? and good luck for the rally.

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi Dave

Yes got the flanges and they are in cheers for that , I'll send you a few quid for a drink , the flanges that were fitted in my diff were 5 series ones so Nigel Moseley thought , I will have to look into this to see if bigger shafts snd outer CV's can be used , it will make it stronger , I dont know what the rods weigh , and there fitted now so cant do it , I am looking for 300+bhp

Phil - No thats on there so I dont get my MOMO suede one dirty yet

Thanks for the kind words , it's actually the first car I've built , all the others I've bought , I just believe that if a jobs worth doing its worth doing right , people were looking at me stupid the attention I put into getting all the clips straight and level  - I need to get out more...

Robbie - Where are you based , I'm coming over a week wednsday , will be in Dublin overnight then driving down to Cork for the West Cork rally , were staying in Clonakilty (sp) will be celebrating the rally , St Patricks day and Wales winning the Grand slam  were playing you that weekend but over here , but I'm over there , er if that makes sense

Ian,

What can I say but, AWESOME !!!!! I done a similar project with a road E30 M3 about six years ago and just wished I had documented it with photo's like you have done. Please keep them coming.

Are those rods, Pauter's (they look like it) ? If so, to answers Dave's question, they weigh approx 585 grams.

Adrian

Yes the rods are Pauter , I got the rods and pistons from the states , they put down that they had modded my rods and pistons so there was only a small fee showing on the customs docs , with the strong £ they cost me £850 delivered for both !!

They are very good quality

Hey Ian,

I live in Co.Laois, you'll pass by a town called Portlaoise on your way to Cork from Dublin, i live about 7 miles from there. I'll try and arrange a couple of us to meet up with you somewhere on the way to Cork or when you're on the way back to Dublin. How long are you stating in Ireland for?

Grand slam or not i'm sure we'll find something to celebrate lol

By the way what are you gonna be driving?

are u sure the side exit zorst is legal?

my boss runs an escort cosworth and had our mechanic make a side exit exhaust for it and it was awesome spitting flames on boost etc but after the first rally of the season he was disqualified and ordered to remove it before the next stage

not sure wot group he was in, possibly grp A i think or N

but all that asside the project looks awe inspiring

Summer Project on its way......

Looks superb.  I love the new digital display in particular.

Once again, my ignorance is only demonstrated by my complete lack of ability to do anything like this myself!

Ian, quick question. I notice you have the bias adjuster in there, the tilton pedal box also has multiple m/c's. would you not adjust the bias f/r via the pedal box rather than through the bias valve ?

yes the bulk of the adjustment will be done through the pedal box , I put the AP one in next to the seat for fine adjustments so I can get the braking ballance perfect , as I'm also using 4 pots on the back the pedal box might not give me enough adjustment

Surely the point of a bias valve is to allow adjustment of the balance whilst on the move. Not easy to do on the pedals!
