I believe it was John's. I saw it at Bexley's and it was
a right mess - it looked repairable but I guess the shell's knackered after all. A shame because it was a lovely car Every time a Sport Evo is molested and/or smashed, the remaining few are worth more. |

What a real shame it's being broken for parts. Pity someone couldn't buy it complete to re-shell.

Shame Everytime I get round to considering a trackday I hear of another smashed one on the track either here or via the US sites. Id be mortified if i did this to mine and its nothing special just a decent basic 2.3. I reckon its time to investigate buying an old clio 16v or pug 205. if It gets binned it wouldnt really matter. Chris. |

That would have been a perfect donor car for my project, and just drop the 2.5 engine in. I does sound like John's old car, has anyone mentioned it to him?

Hi fellas,
Yeah, that's my old car. It belongs to Pottsy who a few of you know. To be fair, there are quite a few nice bits on the car. The engine was good. It revved like a motorbike and made a nice noise. The block and pistons were brand new (the old blocked developed cracks when I owned the car so I had the engine rebuilt). The Motec would have cost £2500 fitted new, although I got it second hand. The car only has one Scrick cam, the 284 inlet one. The exhaust cam is a 272 (I think) which was the original inlet one swapped to the exhaust side. Even the engine cover has been repainted with the correct black crackle finish. The engine wasn't as powerful as Andy O'Hara's but it felt good to me. The interior is as good as new. The gear knob and hand brake cover are new (I am a fussy person). The steering wheel is a brilliant (new) Momo job with yellow stripe at top-dead-centre with a BMW horn button. The seats are perfect (cloth). The gear shift was fine. If you phone up and ask Bexleys about it it could be a good buy for someone. Edited by Nigel |

I spoke to Jags, yesterday and the car has been sold as is... so it may well be rebuilt. So all is not lost. Craig 1990 M3 Evo Sport 1988 M3 Dog 2002 330d Sport Touring |

Very sad, another evo sport bites the dust . Why don't these trackday heroes learn how to drive in 'D reg diamond black dogs' instead of destroying irreplacable evo sports. An evo sport is a very important car from a historical point of view and shouldn't be allowed to fall into the hands of heathens, cheapskates and those with dubious aesthetic leanings. It begs the question ,How many good standard cars are left?.

Pottsy would drive round you in circles on a track! Don't make statements like that if you don't know the background. Who say's it was damaged on track? And if, at least it was used proper and not as a straight line traffic light racer or garage queen! |

I think this was the one that I saw at Bexley's a couple of months ago. Apparently the damage was caused at the ring....It's another one gone, but at least it died in style doing what they do best. |

Yeah, I agree with UweM3 - best to use the car as it was intended. And it’s 'sad' for the owner who wrecked his car [the heartache, hassle and cost] but it’s not a 'sad' event in worldwide historical terms. It would be sad if someone was injured or worse as a result of the accident though. And if it [the car] died at the ring well that’s a good a place as any! Just like PBMW E30 that died at Spa

Bexley told me that the car was lost on a very greasy
road on a rounabout, ended up going into a lamppost. |

so it's not only me who thinks there is something wrong with the roads. The last few weeks I had a few moments with slippery roads as well and started to get paranoid that my car is broken.......

This was Potty's red car? Shame it looked stunning when I saw it last Autumn. Did he sell his white 215 track car? SS7 |
