The Recaro sports seats that were fitted as an option to the E12 range and as standard to the M535i.
Do these seats have an operational tilt forward mechanism.. even though it was a four door car?

I'm reaching here, but I test drove an E21 Baur cabriolet that had E12 Recaros fitted, and they did have a tilt. I can't remember if there was a forward. But since my E24 Recaros tilt but don't forward, I doubt the E12 Recaros did. Wasn't a problem getting in and out of the back of the E21, though.

saloon car seats didn't have the tilt forward fixture, that was the reserve for the 2 doors only! So the e12 would have been fixed.

well these ones do.. they have just arrived via courier and they are mint.. one ton for the pair.. we are well pleased.

On the bottom rail they have the Recaro logo and BMW E12 on the stamp.. they came from an E12 535i circa 1980.

.. and yes they do have the tilt mechanism and the lever is there on the side of the backrest just all ready made to fit into our E21 with no mods reqired at all..

See? I told you so! Well envious, enjoy them -- they are lovely in an E21!

well I stand corrected. I know the seats were universal for the cars throughout the range, but normally the saloon would have been fixed (or so I thought)
