    Posted: 06-January-2005 at 05:45

I have just installed a Maxx Alpha N set up on my 2002.  Didn't go down the CF airbox route, instead, I made up a custom 4" inlet and filter that is wedged as far into the front panel as possible..

Pic of new set up:

Also installed a Techedge WBO2 - I have not mapped it yet though....looking forward to seeing the results.....

Yip - a lot cheaper than the CF airbox......Samco elbow was approx £50.00 and I got ITG to make a filter to my spec for £89.00

I am sure the carbon trumpets are a better design than the BMW one's in the plenum. But still not worth the money to me.

The instructions are good and easy to follow - it's a fairly simple exercise.  Martin at Maxx told me the best way to install the WBO2 - I also use the simulated narrow band signal as opposed to using the standard O2 sensor.

Plan on getting the car mapped over the next couple of months - its off the road just now 'cause of the salt etc plus it's not taxed.

No probs when it comes to assistance with yours - have you ordered your WBO2 yet ?

How do these set-ups perform compared to the carbon boxes. In performance and also sound?

On John's recommendation i have ordered an wbo2 and will be here in 10 days. He has offered to help set it up as he knows the part throttle settings. He just said he needed someone to sit in the passenger seat and do as he instructs.
Need to get the head off it first to have it ported, but as long as i have most of the important bits when it goes back together i hope it's ready for Easter.

Looks excellent and is just what I have have been considering for mine. Getting rid of the AFM can only be good but without bigger cams etc there seems little point in going for a CF Intake.

What did you use to lock the Air temp sensor in place?

I got a piece of 316 stainless steel machined and tapped to accept the sensor then welded the boss into the 4" pipe - worked out well...
