Help! I have a 325 Cabrio and have spent the last year gradually bringing the car back to 100% A previous owner has fitted a horrible flush fit cassette holder on centre console next to the handbrake, I was wondering if the is a coin tray or something similar that was there originally. I would like to remove the 80's cassette holder and replace it to its original function. Does anybody know what should be in its place? and if so the part no!

On my 320i there is a long 'coin tray' which suits the case for my stereo facia (whatever it is called) perfectly.

I don't know how much the OEM part would be but try a breakers yard as there may be a good quality one there.

be sure to get the little nut that holds it in place (below rear ashtray)(front end of it just slots in to gearstick console)

I think the cassette drawers were an optional accessory.

Cassette holders were an optional accessory (probably quite expensive) and are fitted to lots of M3s and convertibles - they were also available in the late 80s to fit any car & some custom fits and were about £45 if I can remember that long ago
