Ok I may well look stupid here but whats new?

I have bought a set of clear side indicators but I'm not sure how to remove the old ones without causing any damage. I can see on the new ones that there is a metal spring clip which I guess holds them in, dose the clip face to the front or the rear of the car and what is best to use to get in there without scratching the paint?

Dod, I replaced mine recently and it was very quick.  Can't remember which way you push, I think to the front, but just apply pressure in either direction.  One way will give.  Once it has moved about 5mm in the right direction, a small terminal screwdriver in behind will prize it out easy.

Fitting is the opposite of removal...

Just been reading the manual on my new toy and it says to push the side indicator forward to release it.

On a sort of similar topic, one of the bulbs on my rear lights has blown.
The manual simply states that it is a 5 W red bulb.   Do they really mean a
RED bulb? Or just that it looks red after lighting through the lens cover?
And are all 5 W brake light bulbs at Halfords the same?

all your rear bulbs are clear!
I reckon they are all the same - if in doubt about which bulb then take the broken one into Halfrauds with you.

Keep the red bulbs for the bedroom & clear for the car.

Actually, the tail lights are 5W, all the others are 21W, and all clear.
BUT if you change the side indicators lenses from yellow to clear, don't
you have to get yellow bulbs?

You should have got a set of orange bulbs with the clear side lenses.  If not, you'l have to get them or they won't pass the NCT

NCT = Irish MoT (where you can fail for having orange bulbs that "aren't orange enough!")

This might be risky;    but does the degree of orange-ness depend on
what part of Ireland you're in?   ie more orange if you're in Ulster?

To set the record straight, I still have the orange side indicators; I was
just musing about the colour of the actual bulb if you have a clear lens.
And the reference to "all the other bulbs are 21W" was with regard to the
rear light cluster accessible through the boot.

Cheers!
Richard.

The degree of orangeness (how do they measure it???) depends on whether they want you to come back and pay for a re-test!

Just found this thread again - so you DO have to shove a small
screwdriver in behind the old indicator lens to remove it?

OK,, Toxic's trick with the small screwdriver did the trick. Great!

One thing, though, the side repeaters are definitely NOT as orange as
the main indicators when flashing.   Must remember not to go to Ireland
for my MOT.
