Faded and scratched bonnet

   I have an E30 325 convertible in dolphin grey metallic- the bonnet is faded and scratched- I have improved it with Autoglym super resin polish, but I can't get it as glossy as the rest of the car- should I dare to move on to the Autoglym Paint Renovator, a mild abrasive? Does anyone have experience of using this?
Alternatively, how much would a professional respray on a bonnet be and would it really be disastrous in terms of colour matching?

	Try speaking to your local Bimmer dealer about who they use. Many if not all dealers outsource bodywork, if you then go through the bodyshop directly BMW won`t slap on their commission. I recently obtained a quote to get my bonnet repaired (thanks to a dent)and resprayed. It came to about 360quid I think.

	How deep are the scratches? Have you tried 'T' cut at all? This should sort out the poor finish and light scratching, but don't do it too hard or you'll go through the paint, then once applied take off then apply a good grade of polish to protect it again. Have done this with many cars.

	Thanks for the replies- used Autoglym paint restorer. Whilst this has made the scratches almost go, the whole paintwork is a little duller than the rest (think it was before anyway), even after polishing. Not obviously so, though. Does respraying one panel usually have disastrous results in terms of colour match? The rest of the car's paint is in great condition so I don't imagine it has faded that much.

	No. I have diamond schwartz on my car and both sides and the bonnet were resprayed without any noticeable colour difference. Even the fade on the C pillar is un-noticeable.
