And another thing on that car, the timing chain won't need replacing for 98,000 miles.

Shouldn't that be 100,001.25 miles! He'd better upgrade to the E36 tensioner to be on the safe side. Should need changing by the time all the oil runs out.
Maybe Roman Abramovich bought it and is going to put ice tyres on and race it round his ice rink. What would the owner have done, trailored it to be serviced to change fluids etc every couple of years. Maybe it hasn't had a service. Wish it was mine. As I said before, it would cost over £56k today taking into account inflation, so it's a bargain. Maybe BMW bought it for one of their museums. I saw a black one at Bracknell years ago on the E36 M3 launch, is this one red? Kevin |

I wouldn't want to spend that much on an Evo sport but someone will. Hopefully there have far to much money and will use it and drive it hard. They don't always get put in static collections. You only have to look at the goodwood revival or the classic le-mans to see far more important cars worth far more being driven to the limit. A friend of my mums has bought the 1955 Le-mans winning D-type jaguar and that still races.

arrrrrh, the Hawthorn/Bueb car in the rather incident
marred 1955 race. an odd car that as after the race it was never sold, and the classic jag frenternity have been arguing for years as to which and what parts were used on other chassis. This chassis was 'found' in the 80's while a rebuild was being carried out on chassis 504, to everones suprise and that's where the car 're-appeared' on the scene, anyway enough anorak stuff. back to the point, e30m3, worth a fortune £500,000 plus and it gets it's neck wrung when ever possible... and so it should ! Here's to the new owner of probibly the only 'new' Evo Sport having the presence of mind to give it some thrash! |

Shame its not the '57 car, which is also still racing. The long-nose cars are better looking and have a mighty top-end. Circa 175mph in between the trees on the 'real' Mulsanne nearly 50 years ago (at night, in the rain.....). More on-topic; Classic Cars magazine reckon the 'most valuable car in the world' is Mercedes Benz's 1955 300SLR driven by Moss/Jenkinson to victory on the Mille Miglia. They estimate its value at £15million, its still driven on the retrospectives by favoured drivers such as Jochen Mass. SS7 |

They've recently made a dvd of the car with some original footage and the footage of Win percy racing it at the goodwood revival in 2002 (I think). Does look like fun to me not to sure i feel safe at 190mph.
