Which do you think is correct - the Maxx or the Techedge ?

When tuning, did you just disconnect the motronic lambda from the loom ?

are you going to weld a second bung in for the WBO sensor?

Uwe,

What are you thinking my man? Jeessh, I have an Evo 2, so I am always running open loop without a lambda sonde!

I placed the WBO2 sensor in the second part of the two piece header that comes standard on the Evo 2...

HTH,

Adwo

Uwe

I will weld another bung in my exhaust for the WBO2

Adwo

I take it that you are referring to the WBO2 signal as displayed in the Maxx software when your WBO2 is connected in through PIN F as you won't have the motronic lambda being EVO 2.

Yes, I am referring to the WBO2 signal in the Maxx software.

Also, I do have Motronic lambda available, but I just do not use it. Every DME is the same, the blue and black connectors on the wiring loom in the glove box make it possible to run with or without lambda control...

I can understand where Martin is coming from... Uptill now no known problems with the M3's converted to Alpha-N with the Maxx units. As he want to keep it that way, he is advising people to run closed loop after tuning. It's safer as small errors are compensated...

Evo 2 and non-cat versions are running open loop, so *when* the tuning is ok, you can leave it in open loop. When doing so you can aim for AFR 15-15.7 in (low) part throttle and save some fuel! As a bonus you gain some (up to 5) hp when you do not have a catalyst under the car...

HTH,

Adwo

keep in mind that the ignition maps are different for the blue and black settings. Best would be to get a custom chip written with the same map on all 8 addresses. This will make sure you have the same conditions cloosed and open loop. Ohterwise your WOT AFR might be different.Ask Martin, he can help.

Generally speaking, leaning off the fuel for light throttle cruise has to be done in conjunction with advanced ignition timing to get things nice and emissions friendly/economical and still have an engine that runs nicely in those conditions.
