The image is diluted, God be with the days that you could only buy M3s in limited numbers, the E46 320d has practically out sold the Mondeo in the UK as the favourite rep mobile for chist sake, were's the image in that ??

As for the history lesson : stock 2002s back in the 70's used to be the same price as an e-type jag new and motor import used to be limited to importing 50 cars/year. If you wanted image back then you purchased the E-type Jag, if you wanted a great driving machine you purchased BMW... its why I drive them...

BTW, never judge the man by the car he drives, Keith Richards was driving around Kildare in a black '92 Sierra last time I saw him.... how that for image !!!

Yes and Damon Hill drove a Honda Shuttle when he lived in Dublin.
