Why? Debate is what a forum is all about, I'm not offended by your comments, your putting your view forward and i'm putting mine forward. So long as there are no personal insults the discussion is healthy.

It also gives old fella's like me chance to educate you young blokes

Fair enough, we're both happy!

I think a lot of the trouble is that people in general are picking up bad habbits!

It is funny how views have changed. Not twenty years ago, when someone was tail gating you, you did not see this as a threat, or a show of aggression, but simply a naughty driver trying to save money on petrol ...

I don't like the E90 very much as a base spec car...

...maybe the only reason I like the 4 cylinder E36 is because I used to have a 316i.

@635CSi...I really think you said something quite nasty then you badmouthed the 316... ...you're talking about people who read this forumand you're bad mouthing them.

that said about 4 cylinder cars there's a 320si for sale near me and I'm sorely tempted, I'd just have to trade the 323 in for it... and I don't want to!! It reminds me of the E36 318is saloon. :)

@fozzymandeus: I apologise for my offensive comment and I will in future keep my personal views to myself.

I never said all 4 cylinder 3 Series were bad, I just said the 316i.

M comments were specifically targeting drivers of the e90 316 saloon, not "smaller engined drivers" in general, and not BMW drivers in general.

Several points which have been missed:

1) Both drivers in my instances were "mature" people who would, at this stage, no longer be suffering from huge insurance loading because according to statistics they both drive carefully, not the "boy racer" brigade we've all come to know, despise, and give out about.

2) My instances span both genders.

3) Both of these people had passengers when they made their manouvers, one with a partner (one could assume), and one with untethered children.

4) Both of these people would probably like to see themselves as professionals of some description.

5) Both of these people are reenforcing the "BMW drivers own the road" view of us by other drivers.

If someone wants to offer me an E90 318i (remember no 316i here) as a company car then count me in!

Its funny...here in SA, we only got the following models:

320I - 320D - 325I - 330I - 330D...

Gone are the days of having the whole range!

When the E30 came out we had the following choice...

316I - 318I - 320I - 323I - 325I - 328I - 333I

Man...that 333I was amazing! Same engine as the 735I I think! Was only ever made available to SA...so that the boer farmers could pull all their farming equipment around

Aaahhh...back in the old days were a E30 316I would cost you 1200 pounds new...compared to 30000 pounds today...driven by different people too!!!

Lol. I remember my dad going right up behind an artic truck in his Fiat
Fiorino van and being dragged along for a few miles. He actually turned the
engine off for a while and we were still being pulled along. Mad but very
cheap motoring.

Guy in E90 316i probably suffering from LWS(little w*lly syndrome) : trying to make up for lack of manhood by driving agressively.

Woman in E90 316i probably suffering from PE (p*nis envy) : manifesting itself in agressive behaviour towards male drivers.

These poor people have serious personal issues, so show some understanding.

...or they might be hung like a horse, and not need a large engine to compensate for their inadequacies?

Kin might be able to comment on that...
