Defo.

I went to one with the club a few years ago at Crail and it was a good day.

A good idea to restrict it to club members (or invited guests) as it gives people reassurance that their pride and joy won't get t-boned by some bam in a chavved up Scooby.

People also realise that everyone has differing abilities and ambitions and not everyone wants to drive like Tiff Needell!

25 cars on Knockhill leaves plenty of room for everyone.

Up for this.

Been to a few bike track evenings and always enjoy having a blast round the circuit.

I've noticed the atmosphere between the bike and car track events are very different.  Some drivers treat it like a BTCC event and try and race each other with the outcome usually ending in tears.

The first car track event I went to someone managed to put their Nova into the gravel on it's side within 5 mintutes! I felt sorry for the guy in the 3 door cossie that got tangled up with a Rover 200 and ended up with most panels reshaped!

Be good to have an event with no egos or one upmanship present.

This is looking better and better.

It will definatley be club members and invited guests as for reason already stated.

With 18 definates so far then I would like to think there is a real opportunity for the regions first trackday at Knockhill.

Although there are still alot of things to ironed out, with insurance etc.....

This is maybe something HQ can help us out with?

We should be in a better position after this has been discussed properly at the AGM in December, as to wether this will be a reality in 2011

I'm really pleased there's interest here but don't forget that this doesn't become a reality until 20 people stump up iro £100 (non-returnable unless event itself is cancelled) each, months in advance for a midweek booking.

We need IMHO 40 folk interested to allow for the usual hols / shifts / skint / car grief / granny's knitting seminar issues if we're going solo.

I'll suggest again that we look at using someone else's day to get on track and build knowledge, experience and enthusiasm in smaller numbers.

Ive been to 2 track nights at Knockhill over the last couple of years. Once in my Cooper S, managed to burn the front brakes and kill one tyre but it was magic fun. 2nd time was just a couple months ago with my JCW. it has much better brakes and no silly runflats so all the happened was I shaved a couple mm of each tyre but it was all in the name of fun. Both times were corporate nights that I was invited to so no charge but I did take track day insurance and it cost about £90 a time with 10% of the vehicle value as the excess.

If its not going to be until next year sometime and the cost aint much more than £100 then I could very well be tempted again.

Remember guys this is a trackday not a race day. If you want to race go to Knockhill get your BARS competition licence and do a championship.

This is for guys who want to experience their cars abilities without the threat of losing their licences as well as their own abilities.

We've got a strong indication of interest now and the committee are looking into how to make this happen so I'm going to lock this thread up and wait for a proper planning one to surface in due course. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with
