I certainly don't want to be Pushing my car anywhere.... sounds more like a tag line for the old skoda club!

Not that I know owt about the how aspect, but aren't there ways (keywords, directory references etc.) of building the site that kind of force to rank it higher

possibly not. They made the mistake of placing their forum in a subfolder so the currently linked pages will all give a 404.
e.g. the 2nd result on this (for me) refers to a page I did up on nikasil. Currently the link goes nowhere but google will eventually pick it up at its new location.
