Robbie - what were you thinking of paying for insurance. I think the quotes you received were reasonable, but then again it all comes down to your circumstances. I wouldn't sell the beast after all you two have been through

Y'all are making a strong case for me to keep the car and i will resist selling unless i get top dollar. I hope i don't have to sell as i've spent a copious amount on it to date and would like to see my vision realised. |

Now i've just had delivery of RSC36 exhausts from UUC Think selling a family member is on the cards as suggested before. I just have to fit one of these. Edited by Robbie Bradford |

Robbie You might get more for 2 less significant family members than 1 significant one! |

e36 m3's aren't making much money here yet - I know I sold one - Richie will also testify to it. Theres been 2 on the buyandsell for months now 93/94 looking for €10k and they still havent shifted. You all remember my 95 one and that went for less than €10k |

if you were to sell the car what you would loose on it would be more than the extra amount you neeed to fork out on insurance.

If i sell i'd lose alot, i don't think i could bring myself to do it after all the expense. Selling is now a last resort. |

I asked this on another post, and I'm asking it again here. Does anyone know how many members bmwcc has in Ireland? As both llatsni and I have said here, maybe it's time to approach an insurance company about doing members a club rate, but to approach anyone requires that we have facts and figures to present to them. Having looked at the online survey Dee* put together, this may be easier than it looks, but it would need answers from ALL members and would be asking ALL questions required when you renew your insurance. Anyone interested on doing this? I'd do it, but will need assistance. |

I thought I was being ignored! This is a good avenue to persue methinks. I know a broker who may be interested in dealing with us. We could make a web form (along the lines of the one here) to find out members particulars [all confidential of course], and then we could approach a broker with the stats. See what they come up with. I've heard of groups in the uk getting such a good overall deal that is was worth splitting the cost evenly, i.e. you pay the same if you drive a 316i on 10 years no-claims or an M6 with 10 claims in the last year. Its unlikely in this country of course, but one can dream! Paul |

I thought I was being ignored when I said it on this thread earlier and on another thread before! I was thinking more along the lines of the one Dee* has on her "Free Megs" thread. This should cut down a lot of the compilation work and allow us to collate the information more benefically for our use. We also have to figure out how to get details from members who don't use the forum too often; maybe get an article in the magazine telling them to log on??? |

Personally after checking all the facts I have decided to stay with
Eagle Star and not to go with XS Direct. There are a few very good
reasons.
1. €4000 excess, I rather drive around knowing if I get into a spot of bother I would not have to pay €4000. 2. You do not get a no claims bonus for the years you are with XS Direct. This means you are pretty much stuck with them because when you leave you would have the same no claims as you started with. 3. There is only one XS Direct type company out there. This means if you do decide to use them, they will be your only logical choice for the next year, don't like the thought of that. Eagle Star is €1000 more... I rather pay it for the long term prospect. |
