Topic: 1 Series Roadshow Posted: 15-July-2004 at 13:26 |
Just popped down to George square in Glasgow where BMW are showcasing the new 1 series. Have to say that the car looks much better in the metal than the pix. Usual BMW style all the models appear to be specced to the hilt and therefore disproportionally expensive.
Feels well built - possibly better than the E46...
Space seemed decent without being huge.
Test drives seemed readily available with a fleet of 1s to take out - I feared the drives were only going to be around the city centre tho, so declined.
Wonder if BMW GB would consider bringing the show to Gaydon..?

I don't think there will ba an M1 (already is!).
Current specs suggest only 115bhp/1.6i, 150bhp/2.0i, 122bhp/1.8d and 163bhp/2.0d engines.
However, there suggests that there may be a 2 series & M2 coupé

Webdunk,
I dont like to have to tell you this but,
If you had asked for a drive in the 1 you would have been given the choice of every model and, this is the hard part.
They had setup a test track in the car park at Hampden with driving instructors from Knockhill and Silverstone and i got to rip the guts out of a 120d around all the test they had setup.
Sorry to break the news....
