Hammond Lane were also responsible for lifting the entire remaining network of the County Donegal Railway in 1960, after closure. The CDR's livery was red.......(and cream)

Keep us informed.

How much would a set of those alloys the 15/16/17 inch bbs cost and do you think they would look well on an E28.

The alloys that are on both of those sixes are very cheap on e bay these days as most people are getting rid of them as they are metric sized wheels and the only tyre you can get for them are Michelin TRX GT's 240/45/ZR415. There is only two suppliers in the UK that stock them and they cost about Ł240-250 each, which is why most people are switching to newer alloys with cheaper more up to date rubber.

Personally I love the original wheels and think that newer alloys just dont look right but its personal preference and how much of a beating your wallet can take at the end of the day.

There is a similar wheel for an e28 which is not metric but they are very hard to get hold of now.

Bayerische

See if you can twist his arm for the blue one and tell him that if is left where it is for much longer it will be worth nothing.

Good Idea !!!  put the fear of God into him Mick, tell him the cost to recomission and that in fact you're doing him a favour by taking them off his hands !!!

I have a nasty feeling that the owner knows the true worth, and is nobody's fool. He controls.

Interesting post. Keep us updated Mick.

I remember my dad going on about the M635Csi years ago.  He had always wanted one.

The guy has gone quite on me. I have tried to ring him 3 times now with no luck. I havnt had time to go down again but will do over the next few days.

The last contact with him he said he only wanted rid of the red car. I expressed an interest in the blue car and then I heard no more. :(

Ill let you know if I get any further.

Ill be concentrating my efforts on my E21 this weekend as Im running it in an Autotest next Sunday.

Mick

What a shame to that to the finest car BMW built.

Looked at Wheelers/Dealers yesterday (Discovery Sweden) when they tuned up a red 635CSi to good normal condition.

Can´t forget the day a friend give me the keys to his  M635 in mint condition fore a testdrive it was a lucky day !!

Those cars was 20 year before other cars and the last models dont feel old at all today. I would like to have one, but my garage is full already.

A quick update on both of these cars, as it has been a while since we have heard any news of them.

Both M635CSi's have now been been moved from their old resting place. I have no idea where they have gone or their fate.

I was trying to aquire the Macau blue car on behalf of a member ( Ron ) on the bigcoupe.com forum. Ron is a genius with e24's and has restored a couple of sixes to near concourse condition, his current project is a rare e24 convertible. I was hoping the Macau car could have been brought back to life by him, if we were able to get it for the right price. I made numerous enquiries trying to make contact with the owner of the cars, but he never returned any of my messages.

It turns out that the Macau blue car is a rare M635CSi Motorsport limited edition of which only 23 were produced for BMW GB at the end of the production run in 1989.

I did hear that the owner of the cars father, owns a garage. Hopefully then, he has started to or has plans to restore the car.

Regards,

Bayerische

Thanks Mick, but I don't think the owner has any intention of selling. He had ample opportunity to contact me and never did. I know for a fact that he did receive my messages.
