A pub, or public house, to give it it's full name, is a public place. I should have the right to go into a public place and not breathe in smoke. If a pub was a place run for smokers and me as a non smoker decided I wanted to come then you would have a point.

To true but the point that i was getting at is that you and you alone have the choice to enter or not enter that public place knowing full well of the danger that lies ahead and you make that choice to do it, therefore subjecting yourself to passive smoking, just like i smoke but dont go out drinking my choice,

Eh?!

So by that logic then if I start going to any enclosed public place and at some point further down the line smokers start going there, then if I don't want to breathe in their smoke then I should stop going!

That's kind of a strange view.

Remove smoking and replace it with something else to see how silly that sounds.

I like to go to pubs. However a lot of other people go there who like to drink benzene. This was fine until one day someone discovered that benzene gives you cancer. Not only does it give the people drinking it cancer, but also those serving it and those who also frequent the pub, as it is volitile, like petrol and can be inhaled. However the benzene drinkers say no we have a right to drink it so if you don't want be exposed you should stop comming here. Oh and the people who work here, well that's just tough.

Madness!

Smokers do not and should not think they have more right to be in a pub than anyone else. I like a drink as much as the next man, so why shouldn't I not be able to go to my local and not risk getting cancer because some people chooise to endanger their own lives and everyone elses.

The non smoking girlies have won, and us smokers are stuck with it.

I just hope the next ban hits some of the non smokers on here, what next ?

cars with more than 3 cylinders ?, drinking ? driving limited to a thousand miles a year ? cameras recording your every movement?, ( oops sorry, they're already doing that one)

Lets hope horsey doesn't smoke, otherwise the " I know betters" have got him twice.

Best Wishes

Nigel

make this man the next prime minister

i have no time for all you non smokers out there saying smoking is bad because it realy is your own choice to go to a pub thats filled with smoke or not

freedom for non smokers and freedom for smokers;that is the whole point you can CHOOSE were when and if you do or dont or go to places that accept the fact you as an independent person can do

its wrong that somebody can make such a stupid bill up in parliment and get away with it

and to all you goody goody two shoes who dont smoke there is plenty of non smoking bars and clubs out there allready so you did have the CHOICE

oh and yes i used to smoke but dont now

its a dogs world out there

Because of course when they banned it in Ireland the it became a really violent place............oh hang on, no it didn't.

Maybe the ban will help a few more people quit. After all, it costs a fortune, it's bad for your health and the health of everyone around you and you only do it because your addicted.

I used to smoke 20 a day and I would have loved it if pubs had been smoke free, it would have made quitting a lot easier.

At last i bloody knew it you ex smokers are always the worst, ive been at my local club for the past two days and ive been asking non smokers if someone smoking bothers them, every one who has never ever touched a fag said it didnt bother them then the ones that moaned about smoking was the ones who used to smoke and that is a FACT
