Wheels from a 97 E38 7 series will not fit an E24.
Ask me how I know? Tried to fit some this evening, as James says they're the wrong offset. |

The wheels will more than likely fit, but the tyres will need to be changed as they are just too big. I run 16x7 wheels with 225/50/zr16 tyres. To be honest the sixes with the larger metrics are if anything over tyred and the cars handle better with a thinner tyre. I personally think my six handles better with the 225 width tyres then with the 235/45/zr17 that i had on before although these handled 50% better then the previous metric rubbish. If you wanted to run a 245 width tyre you would probable have to go down to an aspect ratio of 45. IE 245/45/ZR16. Out of interest what 7 series model have the tyres come from. Is it a late e32 or the newer model as if its a newer model i am not sure if these wheels are the same offset. |

For a 16" rim you should be looking at a 225/50 which is an almost spot on replacement for a 240/45x415 TRX.
235/50 aren't too far off the mark. |

your new tyres will be a larger diameter; this will throw the speedo off. I estimate the new tyres to give an overall diameter of 675mm, where 640mm is a 'normal' size for an E28. This means that the tyres will probably foul the front strut, even if the wheel offset (which should be ET15 for an 8" rim on your car) is OK. cheers

One of the original tyre sizes was 240/45 R415, so you have an increase in width and aspect ratio.
8x16 should be fine (many cars are on 8x17), especially at rear, but your tyre size would then have to be as near as possible to the original metric proportions. This is partly because you do not want to affect speedo readings too greatly. In terms of full lock at front, it sounds as though you might be slightly hampered by the current tyre size there. |

There will be clearance issues on the front strut almost certainly. |

Sorry but I no idea when it comes to tyre size, but all four are the same I believe as above. What he said exactly 245/55R16 100W If they are 8 x 16 will they rub ? or just when on full lock on front ?

What is the alloy size? Is it 8x16 all round? Or something else? |
