The more the merrier G0ph3r.  It'd be good to see as many people turn out for the next run.

I think we'll wait and see what sort of comments, thoughts and opinion are suggested on here before we canvass numbers and confirm a route/date.

Hmm, could find somewhere to set up a bar-b? Couple of big dissposable ones should do it.
I miss not having one, since I dont have a garden where i am at the moment.

Only problem is seeking owners permission, be it a field or nat trust etc.
Malham cove would be nice, haven't been to Brimham rocks yet. Will have to look at the map, see what lies between us.

Brimham Rocks is good....but Pately Bridge and Fountains Abbey are better.

Pately has some great roads around it and the run down into the village is a super test of anyones brakes at speed.

The BBQ idea isn't bad but it'd use up a lot of drivetime wouldn't it?

We could just pre-decide on somewhere to eat perhaps.

I like Andy's idea of a proper picnic though.  Tables, seats et al, and a nice location like Fountains Abbey would be stunning on a hot day.

Let me throw in a few more locations for routes in the vicinity of them:

- Skipton

- Hawes

- Ripley Castle

- Newby Hall & Gardens

- Harewood House

- Castle Howard

- Bolton Priory/Bolton Castle

- Nunnington Hall

- Raby Castle

Plenty for people to think about there.

What a great day, Liam, my nephew loved it, and thanks Chris for taking him for a short spin, he talked about it all the way back to Darlington

Can't wait for the next one, and it looks like Liam will be with me again

I don't know, the bbq sounds good, but yeah it would eat up a lot of drive time.

O for the record, Chris, I enjoyed the first bit of the drive, the pace was great!!  But I do understand were Andy is coming from.

some good ideas, as both Kerry and me are members of the national trust and english heritage, we'd get in most places for free (plus can get in so many youngsters with our family ticket, save a few quid for others bringing nephews etc.)

Fountains is lovely, as are the other abbeys around (except Rosedale, which is just one stone somewhere..)

There was a meet at Newby Hall a while ago, there may be some pics etc. from it

Did a run round Hawes and buttertubs, masham etc. a few weeks ago, it was great driving and lovely scenery. Aysgarth Falls has a picnic area.

I would have been only too pleased to give it a longer 'run' with Liam in the car.

However, I was also being cautious of taking a youngster at high speed around the country lanes.

I could have cut the mustard around the bends to show him what the car could do but I couldn't forgive myself if a nutter came around the corner in the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road and took me out whilst I had a child in the car with me - hence confining the trip to a safe straight with nothing else on the road.

I'm delighted he enjoyed it though!  I was worried about his neck initially when I put my foot down....because he disappeared from my line of sight.....

Andy sorry if i offended you about your 6 calling it a big red bus

Oh no offence taken. It crosses my mind every time I jump out of the Touring !

I'm hoping to take it on the track for one of the Better Driving days.  Without all these modern nancyboy electronic nanny gadgets the old girl needs a bit of room in case it goes a bit Pete Tong.

So long as the E30 M3 lot stay out of my trajectory I'm hoping to explore the outer edges of it's envelope

Janet will not be on board!

Think I'll have to ... ehem ... join the Club first!

If you're at the next meeting we'll have a chat about the feasibility of it.
